Joe Hanna

Joe is a retired engineering geologist with a continued love for geology and God’s creation. He and his wife Robin live in Corralitos and have three grown children—Ben, Brian, and Heather—and seven grandchildren spread throughout Northern California. Joe enjoys gardening, hiking in Santa Cruz County, and being actively involved in his grandchildren’s lives.

Joe was raised in a nominal Catholic home, but during high school, a friend encouraged him to read the Bible and attend a Christ-centered church. Through the ministry of Rev. Dwight Poundstone at El Camino OPC, God graciously called him to believe in His Son and he came to trust in Christ’s atoning work and embrace the covenant of grace. He is thankful to worship and serve at Covenant OPC.

Philippians 3:8-11 has been particularly helpful to his understanding of the work of Christ:

“Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.”
